WWTP Aeration Improvements Project

Completed

The project consists of taking Aeration Basin No. 3 out of service and replacing the diffuser system along with the multi-stage centrifugal blowers.  A total of 9,184 Sanitaire flexible membrane diffusers will be placed in the basin.  The existing blowers will be replaced with Neuros high speed turbo blowers.  The Neuros blowers are a new technology emerging in the wastewater field in the United States.  There are existing installations in Napa and Hollister.  This will be the first installation in the Central Valley.

Also, included in the project scope is a new SCADA system with a fiber optic backbone, three metal buildings to protect the Neuros blowers, motor control centers for Aeration Basins No’s 1 and 2, and other electronic equipment.  There will also be minor modifications to the Operations and Maintenance building to accommodate the SCADA hardware and workstations.

The project will rehabilitate aging equipment, restore lost capacity due to non-operational systems and save energy.  The District is also participating in the CalPOP program, implemented by QuEST.  QuEST performed an energy audit of the facility.  The purpose of the energy audit was to identify and analyze projects for energy optimization.

QuEST

PG&E Energy Savings Report

Quantum Energy Services and Technologies (QuEST) implements the California Wastewater Process Optimization Program (CalPOP) on behalf of PG&E. The Program is designed to deliver cost-effective and persistent energy and demand savings to the wastewater sector.  CalPOP has garnered success in implementing significant electricity and gas savings by delivering a comprehensive set of engineering services and rebate incentives to wastewater facilities operated by municipalities and utility districts throughout the PG&E service territory.  Quest’s no-cost engineering services focus on analyzing facility energy use and developing project recommendations tailored to customer needs. Customers receive detailed engineering audits that recommend appropriate measures for improving the efficiency and operations of wastewater treatment plants, and identify the associated measure costs, savings and rebate incentives. QuEST supports the Customers’ project implementation process by providing technical, project management and financing assistance.
