These Archimedes Spiral screw lifts can pump an average of 8.0 million gallons per day.  They are located at the headworks, which is where the wastewater from all the users in the District enters the treatment plant.  This wastewater, called influent, is pumped up so it can flow by gravity through the rest of the plant.
